Death of SMB1

Friends, Techs, SysAdmins, lend me your ears;
I come to bury SMB1, not to praise it.
The evil that vendors do lives after them;
The reliance of the old lives on too long;
So let it be with SMB1. Microsoft
Hath told you SMB1 was insecure:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath many a device answer’d it.
Here, under leave of malware and the rest–
For malware is ever prevalent;
So are they all, all prevalent –
Come I to speak in SMB1’s funeral.
It was my friend, faithful and easy in use:
But researchers say it was insecure;
And these people are all honourable techs.
Who hath brought many flaws home to light
Whose disclosure did many a rootkit fill:
Did this in SMB1 seem too flawed?

You all did love it once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for it?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And techs have lost that protocol. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with SMB1,
And I must pause till it come back to me.
